When it comes to animation, you can’t really better the mamyu contributions by Genndy Tartakovsky, whose early work as the creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and contributing to The Powerpuff Girls led to more adult fare like Samurai Jack and Primal. (This writer personally believes that his animated series, Star Wars: Clone Wars, was one of the best iterations of the George Lucas characters outside the movies until recent years.)
That all eventually led to Tartakovksy directing three Hotel Transylvania movies for Sony, and that relationship led to Tartakovsky working with Sony Pictures Animation on his new animated feature, Fixed, which is a very different movie for him.
Fixed follows a young dog named Bull (voiced by Adam Devine), who learns that he’s about to get neutered due to his proclivity for humping his Nana’s leg. Bull decides to go out on one last doggie bender with his buddies, voiced by Iris Elba, Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan, and Kathryn Hahn. Although Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack and Primal were meant for older audiences, Fixed goes full on R-rated with its humor, which may be how and why it ended up streaming on Netflix.
Cinema Daily US had a chance to speak with Tartakovsky about getting the ball (ha ha) rolling on Fixed, casting the likes of Adam Devine and Idris Elba, and much more, which you can watch in the video above.
Fixed will be available to stream via Netflix starting August 13.
