The Batman Part II Will Begin Filming in November

Released on March last year, “The Batman was a huge critical and box-office success, generating $770.9 million out of the budget of $200 million. The action-adventure flick received three nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, which takes place on Mar. 12. Now, filming on Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel to last year’s film is set to kick off on November 23rd.

That news was revealed from an executive producer Michael Uslan who revealed it in an Instagram post Yesterday. Uslan has also worked on several Batman-related projects in the past including “Joker,” “The Dark Knight” and Reeves’ “The Batman”.

The post, which featured a logo from the original “The Batman” movie, was met with excitement from fans hoping to see the long-awaited DC tentpole. Uslan, who is a film rights holder with the late Benjamin Melniker’s estate. has executive producer credits on various Warner Bros.-produced Batman projects including Tim Burton’s eponymous 1989 movie.

Details about the new film remain unknown except Robert Pattinson once again protecting the streets of Gotham City. The first film did hint at the Joker, whilst a highly viewed deleted scene online showcased actor Barry Keoghan offering an interpretation of that role.

Other likely returnees include Jeffrey Wright as GCPD’s James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin. Paul Dano and Zoe Kravitz had major roles in the first but it’s not clear if they’ll return in major ways in the second despite both their characters surviving the events of the first film.

The first film famously had multiple stops and starts as it kicked off its shoot just as the pandemic got underway.

Colin Farrell has just begun filming “The Penguin” spin-off series in New York with that project, set between the two films, to shoot over the next few months.
