The latest trailer ‘I Know What You did Last Summer’ from Sony that dropped on Tuesday features Jennifer Love Hewitt reprising her role as Julie James, and she delivers her iconic ‘What are you waiting for’ line. Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s follow-up film, which revives the slasher horror franchise, has Love Hewitt expressing a silent and raging frustration in a close-up shot.
The 1997 original movie of the same name featured a confrontation between James and the unknown killer, who stood in the middle of the road and suddenly turned and screamed in primal screams. “What are you waiting for, huh? What are you waiting for?” she shouted.
Love Hewitt, who has become older in the sequel, urges a group of five friends facing similar dangerous consequences after a tragic car accident to fight back against the hook-wielding killer who is following them.
Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel stars Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King, and Chase Sui Wonders, with both Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprising their roles from the first feature and its 1998 follow-up. The latest sequel is directed by Robinson, whom she co-wrote with Sam Lansky, after an initial script was written by Leah McKendrick.
The movie I Know What You Did Last Summer was released in theaters on Oct. 17, 1997. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe were in the cast, and the story centered on a group of friends who were stalked by a villain using a hook after they attempted to conceal the fact that they had struck him with their car. Kevin Williamson, a Scream scribe, was the one who wrote the movie and it was based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel of the same name. The film will be released on July 18th.
