Mayte Garcia’s Bestselling Memoir ‘The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince’ to be Adapted into a Feature Film

The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince, the acclaimed memoir from Prince’s first wife, singer Mayte Garcia, is set to be adapted into a feature film. Crazy Legs Features has signed a deal to turn the New York Times bestselling book into a biopic, according to The Wrap.

The memoir, which was released in early 2017, offers a glimpse into the influential rock star’s life through his relationship with Garcia, who’s also a dancer and actress. She met the seven-time Grammy Award-winning musician in 1990, when she was just 16 and he was 32.

During their four-year courtship, the folk-pop singer-songwriter became the legal guardian of the then-17-year-old Garcia. The couple eventually married in 1996.

Tragically, their son, who was born on October 16, 1996, died six days later from Pfeiffer syndrome type 2. Garcia later told  People Magazine that the experience negatively impacted their marriage, which later ended in 2000.

Garcia’s book is titled after the song The Most Beautiful Girl in the World, which Prince wrote about her in 1994. Her memoir chronicles how their relationship began backstage at a concert and eventually developed into an artistic friendship and a romance. The book offers an unprecedented intimate and personal look at the musician-record producer, who was famously private throughout his career.
