DogMan – Official Trailer – In Select Theatres March 29 : Starring Caleb Landry Jones

Briarcliff Ent. has dripped an official US trailer for Luc Besson‘s movie DogMan, which first premiered last year at the 2023 Venice Film Festival.

From acclaimed The Fifth Element, The Professional director Luc Besson’s latest film follows a traumatic childhood, finds salvation and justice through his connection with dogs.

In the trailer, Caleb Landry Jones plays Douglas Munrow, a fragile victim of childhood abuse who relives his past while being interviewed by a psychiatrist (Jojo T. Gibbs) after Douglas is accused of murder. But turns out Douglas’ childhood was far from fetching, with his only source of love being the dogs his father (Clemens Schick) would lock him in cages.

“I’ve always like disguises. That’s what you do when you don’t really know who you are, right? You dress up to make up a past to forget your own,” Douglas says in the footage. Speaking of dogs, he says “they only have one flaw, they trust humans.” The film gets violent in the second half, turning into a vengeance film taking out the bad guys with all of his dogs helping.

The film has an edgy indie feel reminiscent of Besson’s earlier works such as Subway and his other early films like The Big BlueLa Femme Nikita, & The Professional.

Jones, who has appeared in the acclaimed likes of Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri and Nitram,he tackles another engaging character here, besides Jones, the film also stars Christopher Denham, Marisa Berenson, Michael Garza, and Jojo T. Gibbs.

Originally scheduled for 19 April 2023, the release was pushed back in hopes to secure a premiere at an autumn film festival after positive reception from buyers at the European Film Market in February 2023. It was also invited at the 28th Busan International Film Festival  in the Open Cinema section and was screened on 6 October 2023

DogMan” is Besson’s first film since 2019’s “Anna,” it will release in select theatres March 29.
